Our Story
Sheep’s Clothing was started in 1991 in the corner of a small sewing shop in Valparaiso, Indiana. The shop eventually outgrew its little corner and moved to another location in downtown Valpo. In 2001, Sheep’s moved to its forever home on Lincolnway, in the center of beautiful downtown Valparaiso. Our staff has over 150 years of combined expertise in fiber arts.
Tami Kay purchased the shop in March of 2020 and has been busy bringing in new and exciting yarn lines and knitting accessories.
The previous owner, Paula Strietelmeier, continues to work at the shop and is also focusing her time on original pattern design for Sheep’s. You can come to the shop, check out her designs, and meet her in person!
Kate has been with us for 18 years and is considered an expert in sock making! She also enjoys teaching the Beginner Knitting class. After finishing Kate’s class, you will have an excellent foundation in knitting!
Heidi started working at Sheep’s in 2002 and is known for her expertise in lace work and double knitting. She enjoys intricate patterns and does not shy away from challenging projects! Heidi also designs and makes jewelry, and many of her items can be found for sale at the shop.
We welcome both new and advanced knitters/crocheters to our shop. If you don’t know how to knit or crochet, let us teach you how! We offer a wide variety of classes from beginner to advanced skill levels. We also provide ongoing support for your works in progress.
Let us help you pick out yarn or a pattern and put your beautiful ideas into action!
